Who we are

Corriente Digital LLC ("Corriente Digital," "we," "us") is a digital agency based in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates. This policy explains what information we collect across our website, WhatsApp communications, and the apps and platforms we build and operate — including Converse, our WhatsApp Business Platform inbox — and how we handle it.

Information we collect

We collect information in a few ways:

  • Contact details you give us directly, such as your name, email address, phone number, and the content of any message you send us, including over WhatsApp, email, or a contact form.
  • Standard technical data collected automatically when you visit our site, such as IP address, browser type, and pages viewed, via our hosting provider's server logs.
  • Data processed within apps and platforms we build for clients, governed by the specific engagement with that client and stored in the databases we operate on their behalf.
  • Data processed through Converse on behalf of the businesses that use it, described in detail below.

WhatsApp and messaging

If you message us on WhatsApp, we receive your phone number and message content through the WhatsApp Business Platform, operated by Meta Platforms, Inc., in order to respond to you and provide the service you've requested. Meta processes this data under its own privacy policy, available at whatsapp.com/legal/privacy-policy. We do not sell this data, and we only use it to respond to you and operate our own business communications.

Converse

Converse is a self-serve WhatsApp inbox: any business can sign up, connect its own WhatsApp Business Account (WABA) via the Meta Cloud API, and use Converse to view, organize, and reply to its customer conversations instead of building directly against the raw Cloud API. Corriente Digital acts as a WhatsApp Tech Provider with Meta — we operate the infrastructure that connects a business's WABA to Meta's platform. For the messages and contact data that flow through a business's connected number, that business is the data controller and we act as its data processor: it decides who it messages and why, and is responsible for having a valid basis (such as opt-in) to message its contacts. When a business connects a number, Converse (through Meta's Cloud API) processes:

  • The business's own WhatsApp Business phone number, phone number ID, WABA ID, and the access token Meta issues for that connection, which we store so Converse can send and receive messages on the business's behalf.
  • The WhatsApp ID (phone number) and profile name of each customer who messages that business, and the content, media, type, delivery status, and timestamps of each message exchanged.
  • Organizational data the business's team adds inside Converse: conversation assignment, labels, notes, read state, and opt-in status.

Each business's data is isolated to that business: it is visible only to members of the organization that connected the number, never to other businesses using Converse. It is stored in the Supabase database we operate for Converse and used solely to provide the Converse inbox. We do not inspect or use one business's conversations for another business's benefit, we do not use this data for advertising, and we do not sell it. A business can delete a conversation's data by disconnecting the number in Converse, or by asking us at the contact below; disconnecting a number also revokes Converse's access token for it. If you are a customer of a business using Converse and want your conversation data removed, please contact that business directly, since they control that data, or reach us using the details below and we will forward your request.

Signing in with Google

Corriente Apps and Converse let you sign in with your Google account instead of creating a password. When you do, Google shares your name, email address, and profile picture with us so we can create or authenticate your account. We use this only to identify you within the app and never post to your Google account, read your Gmail, or access any other Google data on your behalf.

How we use information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Respond to inquiries and provide the services you request.
  • Operate, maintain, and secure our website and applications, including Converse.
  • Improve our services and understand how our site is used.
  • Meet legal and regulatory obligations.

Third-party service providers

We rely on trusted infrastructure providers to run our site and apps, including Vercel (hosting), Supabase (databases and authentication), Google (Sign in with Google), and Meta Platforms (WhatsApp Business Platform / Cloud API). These providers process data on our behalf under their own security and privacy commitments. We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

Data retention

We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes described above, or as required by law. Converse conversation data is kept for as long as the connected number remains active, and is deleted when the number is disconnected. You can ask us to delete your data at any time using the contact details below.

Your rights

You can ask us to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you, or ask questions about how it's used, by emailing us at hello@corriente.digital.

Cookies

Our website does not use marketing or tracking cookies. Any cookies set are strictly functional, such as those needed to keep you signed in to an app we've built for you.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
